Imaginary Motions Video: Kathleya Afanador Music: Allen Fogelsanger A glimpse offers the mind an opportunity to construct a story. Imaginary Motions, a video providing that opportunity, is assembled from basic building blocks--silences and black screens, percussive noises and snippets of motion, and repetitive passages and minimal zooms. The visual imagery is of the mundane, functional, even silly movements and objects of a typical apartment; the music is derived from their sounds. Through development and juxtaposition, and above all through timing, Imaginary Motions imagines an arc of activity that turns the everyday into the odd. |
